Self-Portrait: Blue

Brooklyn, NY, 2021

In the genre of self-portraiture, capturing mood is essential. These photographs are made with a series of colored lights and a translucent backdrop with painted trees by artist Audrey Anastasi. I deliberately chose the pink and blue palettes given their reference to Picasso's blue and rose periods. Like a modern update, living through Covidtime bore twin themes of hope and fear.
