Self-Portrait: The Swimmer

       Aqua Studio, Tribeca, NY, 2021

The water is where I let my troubles go and lessen my angst. As a child, my father taught me to swim in my aunt and uncle’s pool in Los Angeles. I found an old picture of me from that time wearing a three-dimensional floral bathing cap and, since then, I’ve been wearing such bathing caps that satisfy my penchant for faux nature. It was Spring 2021 and I felt cheery in cheerful pink hues. I felt active and strong with a healthy glow. It completes her Covid-19 journey at a point of triumph after all the anxiety and fear. Still, the future is unknown.
