Tucumcari Facade
Tucumcari, New Mexico, 2021
In keeping with the roadside vernacular, I yearned to see the famous Route 66 and follow it wherever it may lead. En route to get a Covid-19 vaccination in Amarillo, I was thrilled to stay in Tucumcari. Visiting this town was like traveling back in time. It was a cold and rainy day when I got in but, on my exploration, I found this bright orange and blue facade with a wreath and flowerpot in front. The windows were papered, the address numbers affixed over it, and I couldn’t tell if the shop was opening or closing.
